Info
Forty years after it first soared into theatres in 1986, Top Gun is marked with this 1g gold rectangular coin, its reverse showing the Top Gun logo at the centre above the words '40 YEARS', set against a cloudy sky. The obverse carries the Jody Clark effigy of King Charles III with the coin's weight, fineness, monetary denomination and 2026 year-date.
The film follows Maverick, a gifted fighter pilot who faces fierce rivalries, personal loss and the challenge of proving himself at the elite Top Gun school, with friendship, courage and redemption at its heart. Its legacy was reignited with Top Gun: Maverick in 2022, which continued his journey as a mentor and earned a Best Picture nomination.
The coin is housed in a paper card that lets it pop in and out easily, packaged in a paper sleeve. The official Top Gun logo appears on both the card and the sleeve. A compact piece of gold for fans of the film and collectors alike.
